SDF Hardening Advantages
Eldec's SDF® induction heating generators use a combination of high and medium frequencies similtaneously to harden parts more quickly and evenly. The result — a 70% reduction in energy costs; shorter production times and increased productivity; and better parts. In fact, the SDF® process is so efficient that if your operation switches from the traditional, oven carborization hardening process to hardening using SDF® induction heating, you could reduce your energy costs by a much as 70%.
The figures above demonstrate the difference in the quality of the hardness. Although both parts are acceptable, it took an hour to harden the part on the right in a hot oven. The SDF®-hardened part on the left reached its optimal hardness in 0.2 seconds.
The illustrations below demonstrate how high (HF) and medium (MF) frequencies influence the hardening process.

SDF® combines these frequencies to harden the part in a single step.
